Cutting Plan
From main fabric:
- 1. Center back panel – 2 pieces
- 2. Side back panel – 2 pieces
- 3. Waistband – 1 piece
- 4. Center front panel – 1 piece
- 5. Side front panel – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the waistband.
- Finish the side and princess seams: center front panel, side front panel, center back panel, and side back panel.
- Stitch and press open the princess seams of the front skirt panel. Stitch and press open the princess seams of the back skirt panel.
- Finish the center back seam allowance. Stitch the center back seam of the back panel up to the notch for the zipper. Press open the center back seam and press the zipper opening flat.
- Insert the zipper into the center back seam of the skirt. Stitch and press open the side seams of the garment.
- Press the waistband in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and finish the lower inner edge of the waistband.
- Cut elastic tape according to size. Secure the elastic tape across the waistband at the sides. Topstitch the elastic tape along the waistband, stretching it. Attach the waistband to the upper edge of the skirt and finish the waistband corners. Topstitch the lower edge of the waistband to the waistband attachment seam. Make a buttonhole and sew on the button.
- Finish the lower edge of the skirt, fold up, press, and topstitch to the skirt.
